The Ball family has a proud legacy of medical education and practice in South Carolina, spanning eight generations of MUSC College of Medicine graduates. This tradition began with James Moultrie Jr., M.D., (1793–1869), a founding member of both the Medical College of South Carolina in 1824 and the American Medical Association, as well as the South Carolina Medical Association.
In honor of Moultrie and MUSC’s Bicentennial, the Ball family is challenging donors to give to the College of Medicine. They’ll give the college $5,000 if just 10 people make a gift of any size to the college on MUSC Day. If 20 people donate to the college, the Ball family will double their gift to $10,000!
