Arts in Healing

Led by a team of board-certified art and music therapists, Arts in Healing works at patient bedsides or in schools and other community-based settings to help heal through the arts.

Arts in Healing would not be available to patients, their families and our community without philanthropy. Donor support makes it possible for creative arts therapy to be provided to patients at no cost. Your gifts cover everything from the salaries of art and music therapists to art supplies and musical instruments.

Creative arts therapy is a research-drive, clinical intervention. It has been shown to strengthen family communication, promote emotional well-being and help patients manage feelings of pain, depression, anxiety and grief. Your gift makes this life-changing support possible.

Arts in Healing $5,000 giving challenge on behalf of Doug and Barrie Hinson
If 10 donors give to Arts in Healing, a $5,000 gift will be unlocked on behalf of Doug and Barrie Hinson. "As volunteers for the hospital, we have seen firsthand the impact of Arts in Healing. Art and music therapy has the ability to help heal patients beyond traditional medical procedures. The therapists are able to connect with the patient’s (or family’s) heart, providing comfort when needing it the most. This department is vital to MUSC." - Doug and Barrie Hinson, MUSC volunteers
